About

A quintessential coaching inn at the heart of Constable Country. It has been a watering hole for villagers and resting post for travellers for centuries. These days, it's much the same - an ideal spot to revive yourself be it a pint of Brewer's Gold, a meal using the fine East Anglian produce or a good nights sleep.

Our food has its roots in rustic Italy and the guiding principles of season, simple and local. Daily deliveries demand a daily changing menu prepared with care and respect and conviviality.

Ales from small brewers alongside Suffolk cider, Suffolk lager, Fever Tree mixers, James White's natural fruit juice, Jing Tea and naturally with food comes wine. From Plemonte to Puglia, the Loire to the Tarn, the focus is Italy and Southwest France with support from up and coming stars worldwide. Natural and biodynamic producers as well.
